Lots of schools and libraries host events and parties that require the guests to turn up in a book character costume. Some of the most successful outfits are often those costumes based on the characters of Roald Dahl books. There are lots of possible Roald Dahl inspired costumes. • Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is probably Roald Dahl’s most famous and most well-loved book. Several fantastic fancy dress costumes can be inspired by its wonderful characters. Willy Wonka (the character played by Johnny Depp in the recent Tim Burton movie) is a great choice. However, it is also possible to put together a Fantasic Mr Fox fancy dress outfits by adapting a standard fox costume. Just add shirt, tie and jacket!
• The Witches could provide the inspiration for a great costume, particularly a Halloween costume. The witches in this Roald Dahl classic are really scary and would allow you to go crazy with the fancy dress make up and effects.
